This traditional Country farmhouse home is one of our more popular house plans at America’s Best House Plans. It arouses the senses and recalls a simpler time when family homes represented generational living and the rural lifestyle dominated. Today, the modern family can continue to have a piece of Americana as the country home has been modified for suburban neighborhoods or can still be placed in a more rural setting. Typical of this style of home is the ever present wide width porch and all it implies; a gathering place for family and friends, a place to read and relax or a spot to watch as the world goes by. This exterior is further accented with wood beams lining the porch, a side gable roof and double and single hung windows with decorative shutters.
